10:00 AM: Welcome remarks from U.S. Congressman Ted Deutch, followed by a screening of Newtown, the Peabody-winning documentary film chronicling the aftermath of the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting. Newtown director Kim Snyder will offer remarks about the film.
11:30 AM: Town hall discussion featuring students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, State Representative Shevrin Jones, Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, Coral Springs Commissioner Dan Daley, and others.

December 5 at 6:00 (DOORS OPEN 5:15) at Harris Center at Grinnell College, join us for the award winning documentary “Newtown.” With us will be filmmakers Kim Snyder and Maria Cuomo Cole, as well as David Wheeler whose son Ben died at Sandy Hook. Mr. Wheeler and his wife Francine have been working hard to increase gun safety in America; they are involved in the current Supreme Court case where families who lost children at Sandy Hook seek to hold liable the companies that manufacture and sell military style rifles. Following the film there will be a town hall conversation including the voices of people who advocate for increased gun safety, including those who have been touched by gun violence, gun owners and physicians.
Seating is expected to be limited, please help us plan by registering here if you will attend. Doors will open at 5:15 PM. Plan on arriving early for a seat, and parking may be crowded.
